BB Cream for Oily Skin
BB stands for Blemish Balm or Blemish Base. It is a multi-function cream, which heals as it provides a good base for make-up, evens out your complexion, hydrates your skin, and depending on the brand, works as a sunblock cream. Some BB creams offer to lighten your skin tone, others to soothe irritated skin and reverse aging. In other words, it’s a miracle cream – an illuminator, moisturizer and protector all in one.
Dr. Christine Schrammek developed the original BB cream, in the late 1950s or early ‘60s in Germany, as a post surgical cream, for people undergoing laser surgery. It was meant to heal scars, cover blemishes and spots, moisturize skin, while regenerating damaged cells. 30 years later BB cream was introduced to the Korean market, and after its astounding success in Asia, the demand for it spread to Europe, the USA and Australia
A version of the original BB cream is still sold by Dr. Christine Schrammek’s cosmetic site, which promises to ‘calm reddened skin’, with Panthenol and Bisabolol (an extract of German chamomile). It goes on to say that this cream was developed especially for those with ‘irritated, large-pored and impure skin’. This cream is available in three colors, to suit a wide range of skin tones, and is meant to give a matte, non-greasy, smooth finish to your skin.
Different skin types require different BB creams. Choosing the right one is as much of a task as deciding on skincare. Dry skin, Oily skin, Combination skin, even problem skin can be treated with BB cream. If you have a specific need, like aging dull skin, or acne and pimples, you will need to study all the various brands to see which one has the ingredients you need. The advantage of using a BB cream, especially for people with oily skin, is that unlike foundation, it is light and doesn’t block your pores. It also contains vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other ingredients for your skin that protect it while creating a clear radiant look.
The Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream #23 promises to block UV rays, whiten your skin and prevent wrinkles and seems to be a good choice for oily skin. If you are the kind of person who likes to go light on the makeup, it is an ideal cream for you.
